We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Tutor to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of the children we serve.

Job Overview: As a Special Needs Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) in their educational development. Your responsibilities will include planning and delivering engaging sessions that meet each child’s unique needs, providing homework support, and helping them achieve their learning goals and targets. You will need to employ creative teaching methods to maintain engagement and incorporate regular breaks to accommodate varying attention spans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement detailed lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of each child. Ensure that each session is engaging and supports the child’s educational and social-emotional development.

  • Support: Provide a range of engaging activities and teaching methods to support the child’s learning and development. Tailor sessions to meet the child’s specific needs and learning goals, incorporating regular breaks as required.

  • Homework Support: Assist children with their homework, ensuring they understand the tasks and can complete them effectively.

  • Progress Monitoring: Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on the child’s progress. Track their achievements and identify areas for improvement.

  • Feedback and Reporting: Offer constructive feedback to parents and guardians on their child’s progress and development.

SEN / SEND Tutor Requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, with a proven track record of working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or other Additional Educational Needs.

  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Experience, knowledge, and understanding of safeguarding processes to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children.

  • Enhanced DBS Check: Enhanced DBS required (we can assist in obtaining this if needed).

  • References: Two professional references.

  • Right to Work in the UK: Must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online positions.
